Cathleen M. Keating received a B.A. degree with departmental distinction from the University of Illinois in 1977 and a J.D. degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1980. 

She has been with the firm of Martin, Craig, Chester & Sonnenschein LLP since 1980 and a Partner since 1987 concentrating her practice in the real estate, land use, municipal, estate planning, probate and general business areas. She has successfully represented corporations, developers, villages and private owners in real estate, rezoning, and a variety of land use matters. She has advised lenders and commercial borrowers on account administration, loan documentation, mortgage foreclosures and loan workouts. She has also counseled families and charitable organizations on estate planning, trust administration and probate issues. 

She is currently the Village Attorney for the Village of La Grange Park. She previously served as a member of the Board of Education for LaGrange School District 102, the La Grange Park Zoning Board of Appeals, and as Secretary Treasurer of the Chicago Metropolitan Savings Institutions Attorneys' Committee. She has served and currently serves on boards of several community groups, not-for-profits and charitable organizations. She is a member of the Illinois and DuPage County Bar Associations. Her publication "Liability For and Defenses Against Fiduciary Misappropriation," Illinois Bar Journal, February 1984, was awarded first place in the Lincoln Award Legal Writing Contest sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association. She has also written an article for the Illinois Reporter, September 1989, entitled "Post Judgment Collection Proceedings: How Associations Should Respond." 

Born in Chicago in 1955, she currently resides in La Grange Park with her husband.
